At 47,
MarDee is in the throws of living her passion.
After a lifetime of working with various art forms:
water color, bronze sculpting, oil painting and
jewelry casting, MarDee took a quilting course 12
years ago and never looked back.
Utilizing the wide array of colors, patterns and textures available with fabric and thread, MarDee put her artistry to work. Her blend of colors, design and mixed media sets her apart, demonstrating that the technique of quilting is like a paint brush, and as such her pieces have moved beyond the word quilt, to art.
MarDee’s love for the icons of the goddess and our lady, as well as graveyards, Day of the Dead and New Orleans has inspired most of her creations, though she never knows which muse will greet her in the morning.
Recently she created Sticks & Stones, a variety of voodoo dolls, spirit dolls and fairy dolls.
Moving to Eugene, with its large artistic community, has inspired her and she is very excited about what expression or vision will reveal itself in her future work.
